about

Kimberly Thomas

I am a mother, wife, sister, daughter, and friend, but above all else, I am a follower of Christ. From a very young age I longed to care for those in need, and by the time I enrolled in college I began volunteering as a Youth Mentor in my area.  For the past decade I have been working in education and human services. Living in an urban area I had somewhat been exposed to traces of the effects of trafficking, but it  wasn’t until around 2017, during a presentation by former Executive Director, Andrea McHenry, that I realized the degree to which sex trafficking was affecting our nation. I knew I had to get involved and prayed the Lord would one day use me in whatever capacity He saw fit. It wasn’t until years later that the opportunity would present itself. Now, as Program Director,  I have that chance to serve those affected, and look forward to planting seeds of faith in the hearts of each woman who crosses the threshold into Refuge Home. I truly believe that with God’s help, the staff, volunteers, and our community partners, can be a light in this city.
